Philadelphia emcee/producer Purple Dialect dropped his debut EP, Word Born, on the US Natives imprint a few weeks back. Word Born is a nice journey as a listener and being late on this release gave me a minute to take the music in. The music flows easily from sound into sound and I found myself liking the tempo and rhythm of the EP all unto itself. The transitions blend as well as they do on Word Born in part because Purple Dialect is consistently nice with what he does as an emcee. Sprinkling in punchlines and anecdotes throughout gives a personal feel on a record that is light on time and heavy on replay value. Listen below and cop a tape.
