Dolphin soothes with his digital 12″ single “Basic Life” / “Snakes”

It’s always a good day when Dolphin comes out of hiding. On Friday, his music was able to emerge from his secret, enchanted music laboratory in the form of a digital 12″ single via Fresh Selects.

While the talented Baltimore artist preps his debut album The Great Pretend, we get to be held over by two tracks that sound and feel like a soothing carpet ride to the moon. “Basic Life” is a single off of his album and it’s a beautiful relationship of guitar, keys and reverb-happy vocals. All done by Dolphin, the starry track is his enjoyment of a simple-yet-perfect relationship. The cherry on top comes with the guitar solo at the end — contrasting in the best way possible. “Snakes” is impressive on the production, as well. Swinging, sturdy percussion erupts the swaying chords as Dolphin’s full angelic voice warns us to keep away from the snakes.
