Chaiah
Chaiah (a.k.a) Chiara Baume, is a jazz R&B musician, producer, and engineer, who merges live instrumentation with cutting-edge production to create works that are expansive and intimate. In both the studio and stage, she incorporates drum machines, Ableton setups, and live jazz into her eclectic performances. Drawing from her Buenos Aires roots and influences like Bjork, Alfa Mist, BADBADNOTGOOD, and MNDSGN, her introspective compositions blend the familiar with the futuristic. Chaiah aims to evoke an expansive emotional energy, guiding listeners into a euphoric state where jazz meets digital soul.
Chaiah found her calling at the age of ten, starting with the guitar before joining various bands as a teenager. She’s since gone on to become a 2024 awardee at Berklee’s prestigious Career Jam Concert for music production, and has also received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music to complete her studies in Music Production and Engineering. Her composition “Meaning,” was selected to be performed at the Berklee Latino Vive Festival with an orchestra before an audience of over 1,200 people. In addition to serving as the music director of the Ganoush Collective, a group of composers and producers, Chaiah has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Chiljud, Nina Del Rio and Tessa Jade, and performed at local venues in the Boston area like House of Blues and Wally’s Jazz Club.
In 2024, she released her latest single, “Tu Luz,” a fusion of jazz and hip-hop serving as a preview of her debut album, set to be filled with grooves, harmonies, and electronic textures. Chaiah’s artistry is a reflection of her current life experiences, fueled by her connection to both Buenos Aires’ unapologetically honest music culture and her time in Boston’s jazz-soul-R&B-hip-hop scene. With upcoming shows in Buenos Aires and Valencia, Chaiah is quickly emerging as a global voice in innovative music.
