I Love Ugly has been a clothing brand some music fans may know due to their collaborations with artists over the years. As a Blu fan, I remember I Love Ugly providing the wardrobe to Blu’s outfits in the “Ease Your Mind” music video. Later on, I saw them collaborating with another favorite of ours, Chester Watson, on a number of things; in store performances, radio sessions, and interview. And most relevant, Chester Watson is a judge on I Love Ugly’s latest competition that invites all artists to a chance to be pressed up on vinyl.
There’s not much time left in the competition, but due to how open it is, I wanted to make sure I shared it while submissions were still open. Here are a few quick points about the competition that ends this Friday, April 5.
- The panel of judges will consist of the I Love Ugly team, the team over at Holiday Records (the NZ based Vinyl company), and Chester Watson.
- The prize for each winner is a voucher for $1000NZD to I Love Ugly & 2 Vinyl Records each as well as the collaborative merch by I Love Ugly x Holiday Records.
- Submissions are open to existing or unreleased tracks, that is up to the artist.
- Songs can be no longer than 4 minutes
- Winners and creators retain all rights to their song as this is a physical only compilation. if the winning artist decides to upload the song or if the song is already uploaded that is fully up to them.
- Have to be 18 to submit
- Any style and any genre is welcome
- Last day is Friday April. 5 and winners will be announced April 12th.
