Ready for their next artistic chapter, Jay Cinema and Chow are back with ALCDELUXE, a brand-new EP out now and available on cassette. Following their acclaimed project Alchemy earlier this year, the release features all-new tracks – not B-sides but rather entirely new works flexing the duo’s current state of creative evolution. Bringing their unique identities and influences into their collaboration, their growth together has shifted their creative vision sharper into focus.
Together, the duo’s efforts have garnered acclaim across hip-hop publications, with Alchemy praised for its complex themes and dynamic beats. Jay Cinema (Jared Nelson), a Yonkers native in the Brooklyn circuit, takes an introspective approach to lyricism and draws inspiration from Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, The Creator. He’s performed at iconic venues like SOB’s in Manhattan and is gaining recognition from outlets such as Pitchfork and DailyChiefers. Chow, a versatile producer and rapper out of New Bedford, crafts his sound from the quiet of his home studio, blending influences from Nas to The Neptunes with a psychedelic, chill-wave-esque flair.
The EP’s standout track, “Summer Snowflake,” enlists Phoenix rapper kJADE, who opens with a heavy-hitting verse on refusing to conform to commercial pressures. Jay Cinema’s vivid and reflective imagery on taking adversity head-on follows, layered over Chow’s textured, soul-laden production.
“ALCDELUXE demonstrates more progress, more growth, and more chemistry between myself and Chow, and I couldn’t be happier and more proud of us for what we’ve been able to accomplish off the strength of our ingenuity and curiosity. I’m grateful to be able to create genuine, pure art with someone that thinks completely outside the box like Chow,” shares Jay Cinema. Boldly exploring the creative depths of alternative hip-hop, Jay Cinema and Chow’s latest release allows both existing and new listeners to find something fresh and genuine.
