Tales From The Old Mill by Elbows - Artwork

Tales From The Old Mill is the long-awaited debut album from Bay Area-born songwriter and producer, Elbows, AKA Max Schieble. The expansive body of work explores the concept of "home" as a place, a memory, and a desire, across music, video, and visual art.

Elbows weaves a seasonal concept to convey the universal nature of ‘falling apart.’ Sonically [Seasons] couldn’t have better production or instrumentation, as the assortment of sounds truly creates a blissfully tranquil listening experience.

"Amnesia" is a smooth, sultry and smoky ode to the memories and folks we can't forget and remain as a nearly permanent part of our own expansive consciousness.

Musical styles swerve between songs, as a 70’s funk groove gives way to a leering 808-filled beat, which leads to a dusty bossa nova loop, while maintaining a unified atmosphere across the record, at once both spooky and whimsical.
