Tackling the social and emotional toll of overconsumption, Satchy uses the EP’s title as a metaphor for the overwhelming flood of information in our digital age. He deconstructs the clash between our own lives and the curated realities of social media, exposing the emotional dissonance that comes from constant comparison. A cutting reflection on the pressures of modern life; reality and perception blur, he laments over the sense of being drowned in contemporary society’s excesses.
Following the release of his album Warm Absence in June 2022, Satchy took a solo approach to Overflow, meticulously layering each track in Ableton. This process allowed him to collaborate with a diverse group of musicians remotely, weaving their contributions into a cohesive work. Known for his collaborations with artists like Zulu, Eyedress, and Hana Vu, and celebrated by outlets like FLOOD Magazine and Brooklyn Vegan, Satchy keeps on redefining genres, presenting a weighty exploration of being alive in today’s day and age.
