“I fight the thought the work don’t benefit me, easier said.”
the hermit is an EP that came together from remnants of ideas over the years from shemar and Sasco. Originally intended to be part of a larger project with music geared towards live performances, the hermit focuses on the aftermath of a transportative period for shemar, exploring a time period of working long hours and navigating a growing sense of disillusionment.

Across four tracks, shemar and Sasco bring their singular styles together into a cohesive mesh, interwoven perfectly to express something new from their work. Each instrumental explores a distinct compositional approach, pulling from experimental hip-hop, abstract electronic music, degradation techniques, and manipulated samples.
With the title drawing from the tarot card The Hermit, a symbol often associated with introspection, solitude, and self-examination, those themes echo throughout the project as shemar navigates questions of identity, memory, and personal accountability. The duo accomplish a lot over these four tracks using adventurous, spacious production and vulnerable songwriting to document a period of uncertainty and the search for clarity that followed.
